Description

Shibori is a manual cloth resist dyeing technique which results in beautiful patterns on fabric. It originated in Japan, the earliest known example of cloth dyed with a shibori technique dates from the 8th century. Shibori, from the verb root Shiboru, means to wring, squeeze or press.

Light as air! Kota Doria is handwoven in Kaithoon near, Kota in Rajasthan. It is said that weavers from Mysore in Karnataka were brought to Kotah, in the mid 17th century, during the Mughal empire. Hence they are also called Kota Masuriya. This fabric has tiny woven squares (khat) which look like graph paper and are considered suitable for turbans.
